St Peter&#8217;s church around the corner from my hotel has a steeple you can climb to the top. It&#8217;s also the oldest church in Munich (1180). This place was amazing to say the least. Gothic, historic, creepy, it had it all. No one else was snapping pics so I refrained. I walked around, bought a ticket to walk up the 300+ stairs and walked away real quick. Oh this staircase was as wide as me and there were people coming down and going up at the same time. Oh no way! I&#8217;ll see the Alps some other time thank you.</p> <p>So I continued on to Hofbrauhaus, the famous beer hall for lunch. Its family style seating with rows of picnic tables so I had to walk up to a table with an empty seat. I get so nervous going to eat by myself. It took me a few minutes to get the nerve to ask if a seat was open. Unfortunately I chose a table of American&#8217;s with a baby but on the bright side a polka band was playing in the hall.  </p> <p>The sun was still out and it was early so I decided to go walk a little farther outside of the city center. I found some cute little neighborhoods of cafes and boutiques. Then I found myself in a sketchy section. Just one block in I felt the uneasiness. I didn&#8217;t feel threatened at all but just uncomfortable. I lost my sense of direction so I started turning left then right. Finally I came upon the Hauptbahnhof, one of Europe&#8217;s largest train stations. After I walked through to the other side is when I really felt lost. My map was no help because the streets I was on were not on the map nor did my phone work. When I started stopping people to ask for directions, they only responded in German. I knew they would understand S Bahn, the train, but the rest was so unclear to me. I kept walking and following people. I started to feel a little panicked because a few hours had passed and it was going to get dark soon. After one girl pointing me in a direction I finally found the train! WooHoo! I had no idea what station I was at either. Well, when I got back to the hotel and looked on the map I discovered how far outside of the city I was. The map I had with me didn&#8217;t even show that far out. How the hell did I do that? What a relief to be back and relaxing. I was so excited to visit this country, even if it was for a day. Tuesday night I was trying to figure out where to board the bus when I saw the travel date was Tuesday. I thought it was Wednesday. Big bummer. So I emailed another tour for Thursday but they never responded. I would rather spend way more time exploring Austria then 1 day, so maybe this is a good thing. After a little shopping today I decided to go on a photo walk. Also, I started a new project. Its to photograph anything that is the color blue. I was inspired by something I saw on Instagram and the wheels started turning. Hundreds of people came out of nowhere! This is what I’ve been waiting for. The streets, the stores, and the restaurants were bustling today despite the frigid temps. Directly behind my hotel is the Viktualienmarkt, an open air food market. Meat, cheese, bread oh my! I was on my way to buy some water when this girl runs up to me smiling asking me something I didn’t understand. All that came out of my mouth was “Nein”. I’ve practiced over and over how to say “I don’t speak German” and all I could answered was “No”. I guess I was surprised someone was talking to me. I keep thinking about what she was trying ask me. My lesson today is practice the language. Well almost everything. McDonalds, Burger King, and KFC were opened. When I woke from my 4 hour nap, I was so thirsty and hungry. I checked online for a little market or store to buy water and some food but found none. The interesting thing that happens to me when I travel internationally is actually having to hunt for food and water. Luckily for me McDonald’s has veggieburgers! It was quite cold and snowing, which made it feel almost surreal. Coming from California, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen snow. I slept most of Sunday and only ventured out that evening to hunt for food.
